“I think Sarah is an excellent teacher. Over the course of a year I studied jazz, pop, rock, and classical songs with her. She has an amazing knowledge of the human voice and has an endless supply of exercises for every situation. She is very patient and fun to work with. My singing has improved enormously since I started taking lessons from her and I would highly recommend her to anyone.” -MG
"I have never found an instructor who has such intelligence of the workings of the voice as Sarah. I have learned so much about how to utilize and strengthen my voice and saw improvement in weeks. She uses tools such as recordings to help her students understand where refinement is needed. I have received a wonderful education with her and would recommend her lessons to any student, experienced or new." - MM
“Sarah provides a nurturing, productive partnership with her students that produces results! My daughter looks forward to piano lessons each week and is dedicated to practicing at home throughout the week thanks to Sarah's encouragement and clear directions. We appreciate Sarah's friendly nature, consistency and timeliness!” -KGJ
"I have been taking vocal lessons from Sarah for about a year now, and I have improved so much! I have been singing and taking vocal lessons for many years, but have never learned so many useful tips and tricks to better my singing voice. Sarah is so knowledgeable in this field, and I appreciate all the work she does to work out the kinks in my range. I now have a larger range than I have ever had. She also records my songs, so I can review them and improve. Even at my first lesson, I learned something new." -DW
“I’ve always been into music for as long as I can remember. From singing to piano to saxophone, I’ve always found a way to express myself through music. However, I could only dream about gaining the courage and confidence to sing in front of others and to release my own music. With Sarah's patience, determination, cooperation, outstanding feedback, kindness, compassion, and natural ability to provide a judgement-free environment, I have gained an incredible amount of skills to sing with confidence while also singing healthily. In the end, she made my dream come true, making her the best music teacher I have ever had.” - CG

Lesson Policies and Courtesy Information
Making the Most of Lessons: I focus on providing positive, patient instruction and do my best to see that my students learn, grow, and take pride in their work! I firmly believe that your instrument is yours, and my goal is to teach you to use it in a way that you will enjoy. As with any learning process, information acquired during lessons is best retained by reinforcing such information through at-home practice. Please let me know if I can help with this issue.
Lesson Schedule: If you choose the weekly lesson option, a space has been reserved for you with the understanding that we will have a lesson each week at that time. If a permanent conflict arises with this lesson time, please feel free to contact me to discuss alternate arrangements. I am happy to work with you to ensure a weekly lesson time that complements both of our schedules.
Payment: Tuition for weekly lessons is $120 per month. Please pay the next month’s tuition by the last week in each month - I am able to accept cash, check, and Venmo (with Venmo, please add 1.9% + .10).
*Single sessions: $35 for 30 minutes. Payment is due at or before your session.
*Monthly blocks allow you to save per month and guarantee your place.
(The number of lessons is inherently determined by the calendar which varies. Some months may only have 3 sessions while others may have 5. On average, there are 4.33 weeks in each month!)
A Word About Tuition: Tuition is not calculated as an hourly fee for services rendered - I believe that good teaching is more than the time spent with your student! Your payment covers time spent with students, preparation time, teacher training and experience, recital costs and preparations, professional organization memberships, professional journals, studio expenses, property taxes, self-employment taxes, insurance, business licenses, retirement, continuing education, and certification costs.
Cancellations/Makeup Classes: If you are sick, please choose an online lesson. In the event of a client absence, assignments can be given for the week instead. In certain situations (ex. illness) you may be able to attend in a different open lesson spot to make up for your absence (please make this plan with me to avoid conflicts!). No credits or refunds can be issued for missed lessons.
I teach at least 48 weeks per year. This schedule allows us to account for holidays, snow days, occasional teacher cancellations, and vacation time, which balances out nicely with the 4.33 weeks/month formula.
*For clients who opt out of summer lessons- please reapply for a new spot in August. Current students will be given priority, but time slots are not guaranteed and it is possible that yours may be taken over the summer.
Books and Materials: Students often need to purchase instructional materials to use at home. (We will discuss these options and the associated cost.)
*Piano students will need an assignment notebook - this is very important!
*Vocal students will need a three-ring binder to hold their music and assignment pages.
Leave of Absence/Discontinuance:
If the need arises to discontinue lessons, I request 30-day written notice so I can have time to fill the open time slot.
If you must miss lessons for more than one month but wish to continue as a student, you may choose from two options:
Discontinue, then re-enroll upon your return. If you choose this option, re-enrollment is subject to availability.
Reserve your class time by continuing to pay monthly tuition (and, ideally, committing to staying on track with assignments).
Thank you for your interest!
